In the mu world character deaths happen, normally when one character kills another character. These events can sometimes be very unexpected and abrupt and in the cases of long-played characters can hit some players pretty hard. In a game centered on social and political play, and where dragons and other fierce threats can occur without warning, players need to understand that while staff will never intentionally kill off a character, that their IC actions can still lead to death and that some concepts are more at risk than others.
We ask that players remember that Character deaths will happen. We also ask them to play these situations out well and remember that this is just a game.
Anonymous Kills
Anonymous kills happen when characters attempt to take the life of another character through stealthy or otherwise anonymous means. This can be disguised assassins or even poison, both of which are a very real if not unpleasant part of the political and social IC theme. In all cases, Anonymous Kills can only be carried out when a staff or storyteller is present. In order to attempt an anonymous kill, players need to be prepared to provide the following:
1) The attempting player must provide solid, IC reasoning for the attempt.
- Why is this being done?
- How is this being done?
- Keep in mind that based on the information provided and the documentation leading up to this, staff may chose to retcon the event if there is no IC foundation to a characters actions. One cannot kill someone off because of OOC feelings.
2) It should do the victim justice. No, not necessarily IC justice as someone is trying to kill them, but the event should at least be somewhat enjoyable if at all possible.
Staff require that they receive the preferred date of the attempt and the above information at least 48 before the event is to take place, to give them adequate time to properly look over all of the information.
The "Newbie" Grace Period
Characters tagged 'New' on the WHO may not take part in PK-possible scenarios (or be PKed) for 30 days upon approval. The only exception to this rule is in situations where a new character directly instigates a fight or situation that directly leads to a PK situation, such as taunting a champion, committing a crime punishable by death or attacking someone.
This rule can be waved by players playing Military or Champions.
