Like the people of the Salamander, the Ivoreans did not spring from any of those that physicall took up arms against the Sorian Empire, but instead from a band of roaming entertainers that acted as spies to aid the resistance. Since that day, the Ivoreans have been a people of happiness, celebration, and expression, something that eventually led to the nickname of "muse" for anyone to works in entertainment.

There are very few "Muse" in the land of Isstia that do not hail from Ivorea. The culture of Ivorea is based strongly upon the expression of ones inner most self and places a strong emphasis upon their love to create. It should come as no surprise however, that a culture like the Ivoreans produces more than just muse. The Ivoreans actually produce many different types of tradesmen, from smiths to jewelers all the way to weavers and perfumers. For this reason Ivorean crafts are sought far and wide for their craftsmanship and stunning artistic details.

When it comes fashion the Ivoreans love color and beautiful things, for this reason they are fond of nice, well-tailored clothing, beautiful fabrics, and rich dyes. They value colors like orange, red, and yellow and love sparkling details like gold and silver cording, bells or gems. Beads are also used in many things, from jewelry, to clothing or even in their hair, which is more often than not left down and 'free'. For these reason the Ivoreans are occasionally thought of as vain or materialistic, which is not necessarily an inaccurate description for many.

Despite their egos, flamboyance and habit of doing things in excess, Ivorea is filled with beautiful goods and shops, artisans and merchants and is a loved destination for anyone looking to enjoy a rich culture and a good time.

Notes On Ivorea

  • Party Central: Ivorea is known for one thing above all else, Celebration. There is seldom a week that goes by, when there is not dancing or music in the streets. Performers are known to entertain their fellow citizens with their skills at random, occasionally breaking out in dialog, song or dance whenever the mood strikes them.
  • Festivalia: Once a year, the people of Ivorea hosts a 3-day long celebration known only as Festivalia. During the course of these three days, the Kingdom revels in celebration of the Goddess Dynna which begins people from all over Isstia who wish to enjoy the competitions of storytelling, singing, and dancing, all of which eventually culminates in a Masquerade open to any and all upon the final night. Participation as a competitor in the events leading up to the Masquerade is considered to be prized among those of Ivorea and the winners of the each event are afforded a great deal of prestige among their fellow citizens for the entire year.
  • Jesters or Not?: While a Ivorean may be the ideal candidate to give fashion advice or create items of great beauty, they are seldom consulted in matters of war or politics. That is not to say that the members of this kingdom are any less savvy in the political or combative arenas, but generations of encounters with people of this kingdom have inspired most other kingdoms to shun them in those areas. In fact, it comes as no small surprise to any that are ask that the people of the Salamander and Wolf tend to be their biggest critics. That said the Kingdom of the Wolf, found just a short journey to the east of Ivorea, are known to work closely with the Kingdom of Ivorea. The Ivoreans provide the Wyreans with goods and entertainment, and the Wyreans provide the Ivoreans with additional protection.
