On a non-consent game, there are bound to be situations that some players are not interested or comfortable with RPing. In this situation a player always has the right to request a fade to black. For no reason can a fade to black be denied to a player, however there are a few guidelines to how this works.
- A fade to black is not a means to escape the consequences of ones actions. Even though the RP is hand-waved concerning the event, it still happened ICly and holds the exact same weight as if the scene had continued as normal.
- In the case where a character prefers to FtB in a scene concerning multiple people, then the player should announce their wishes to fade to black, and the other characters should contact a staffer/storyteller before moving on. If the scene can be 'jumped forward' to a part where the RP concerning the other player is over, then the players have a right to do so. FOR NO REASON can the other players NPC the other person.
- Example: If characters A & B assault character C, and Character C demands a FtB the assault will not happen in active RP. Instead the rolls are taken and the outcome is calculated. The players should maturely and respectfully discuss what happened. Once this is done Character C should leave. If the two remaining players choose to move their RP on to after the assault they have that right however, the players do not have the right to RP it out by NPCing the victim.
- This is especially true in cases of rape. AT NO POINT should this be RPed out on the game, and furthermore players should be aware that systems are put into place that allow NPCs to witness events. Just because a PC is not present does not mean they are alone. Also, rape in any form is ICly punishable by death. There are no ICly other options and zero tolerance, regardless of IC station.
