Since before the fall of Sorian and the rise of Isstia, the people of the Kraken have been renowned as sailors, fisherman and navigators of the stars. Not only did they head the destruction of coastal Sorian strongholds and vessels, but they are responsible for building the first ships in Isstia and are the soul providers of aquatic goods such as pearls and seafood, just to name a few. The traditions of boat building, sail making and navigating have endured the passage of time, and many members of the current generations continue to practice the same skills as their ancestors. Because of their love of the waters, the Kingdom of Narcisca can be found off the western coast of Isstia among the Pearl Isles. For the most part, the Narciscans, with their deeply tan skin and agile bodies, are a happy lot who are unafraid of a hard day’s work. Where many would balk at the idea of working long hours in the glaring sun, the Narciscans merely go on with life, unafraid of the challenge. Like many of the other Kingdoms, the people of the Kraken are known for a handful of things that make them unique. These are outlined below: No Boots for a Busy Man: It is not uncommon for a Narciscan to be seen going barefoot during the warm months, a practice that originated in the early years of fishing the waters, when sailors and fisherman alike found that it made movement and climbing around the ship easier. During colder seasons, the Narciscans employee the use of shoes like everyone else. Jewelry of the Sea: The women of Narcisca are famous for the decorative jewelry that they create and wear on their ankles and wrists, mostly made of braided hemp, glass beads, seashells and pearls (pearls are seen more on High families). These little trinkets are often given as gifts to those outside the kingdom as a sign of appreciation and respect. Tunics made for the Sea: Spending long hours under the glare of the sun makes working in thick fabrics and long sleeves risky. Even more risky is the idea that one’s clothing may snag, catch or rip as one moves about the high nets and narrow corners of ships. For this reason the Narciscans employee a unique style tunic which are sleeveless and made of thin, airy materials like linen or cotton. They only wear light colors, useful in reflecting the sun’s rays. Food of the Sea: The Narciscan are a people devoted to their culture and the unique atmosphere. With direct access to the sea, and taking into consideration the main source of economic support for the kingdom, it should come as no surprise that the Narciscan diet consists primarily of seafood and tropical fruits.
